EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Police say a group of four teens on Friday night are the first to be taken in for violating the city's new 10 p.m. curfew.

Mayor Alvin Parks says the teens, three girls and one boy, were spotted trying to break into a home near 15th and Missouri.

Parks says the officer who caught them was out looking for minors breaking curfew.

The curfew was put in place earlier in the week after a wave of violence in the city including the shooting deaths of three young men last weekend.
