East St. Louis kicks-off 40 days of nonviolence campaign Saturday

(KMOV.com) -- East St. Louis officials will kick off a 40 days of nonviolence Saturday in an new effort to provide safe activities for residents.

The program is a collaboration between the police and community organizations and the activities begin with Amnesty Day Saturday.

Any person with traffic tickets and misdemeanor warrants can go to East St. Louis City Hall between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. to have them wiped away.

Other events during the day will include workshops for kids between 8 and 18 to be held at Lincoln Middle School from 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
