(KMOV.com) -- Authorities have identified the driver killed in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 55 in south St. Louis early Saturday morning.
Police say a four-door Lincoln was driving the wrong way on northbound I-55 near Sydney Street around 6 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle collided with a green Subaru, causing the Lincoln to catch on fire.
Damian Harris, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 36-year-old driver of the Subaru was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition with leg injuries.
St. Louis City Police Department report accident reconstruction teams were on the scene. The northbound lanes of 55 were closed at Arsenal for a few hours.
No word yet on why the vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate.
