(KMOV) – A man faces charges after he allegedly hit two people while driving under the influence of alcohol in north St. Louis Monday morning.

Damon Franklin, 36, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and driving while intoxicated.

According to police, Franklin was driving drunk on eastbound Natural Bridge near Grand around 7:45 a.m. when he drove into the westbound lanes and hit a curb.

Franklin’s car then hit another vehicle parked at a gas pump in the 3700 block of Grand. That vehicle then went backwards and hit a 8-year-old girl. The girl’s 46-year-old mother was also pushed into the pump.

Both victims were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

Franklin was taken to the hospital with cuts on his face. It was later discovered he had been intoxicated at the time of the wreck.
