(KMOV) – A man on Friday morning admitted to driving drunk when he hit and killed a woman in south St. Louis County in March, 2012.
Elvedin Halkic, 34, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a wreck that took the life of 58-year-old Edna Binder.
His sentencing has been set for May 16.
Halkic was driving on S. Lindbergh Blvd. early on March 11, 2012 when he ran a red light at E. Concord Rd. and struck the side of a vehicle driven by Binder.
Binder was transported St. Anthony’s Medical Center, where she later died.
Halkic was arrested at the scene and taken into the St. Louis County Jail. His blood, which was drawn about three hours after the crash, was at a .12. The legal limit is .08.
He was released the next morning after posting $50,000 bond.
Halkic’s crime carries a punishment of anywhere from five to 15 years in prison.
