BEVERLY HILLS, Mo. (KMOV) – In the municipality of Beverly Hills in north St. Louis County, drivers caught operating a vehicle with an expired license could end up in jail.

Beverly Hills says it is they city’s policy to do this, and while some think it’s unfair, police say they will lock up anyone who gets caught.

Joe Frisella says he spent about three hours in the Beverly Hills jail one night two months ago because his license had been expired for 27 days.

Police say they have no intentions of changing their arresting policy for drivers with expired licenses.

Editor’s Note: In December 2010, News 4 did a story on another local municipality who locked up a man for an expired license. Read that story here.
