(KMOV) -- A Metro-East man who took a sleep aid before a 2012 wreck that killed a construction worker on Interstate 64 faces10 years in prison after admitting in court that he was driving impaired.

Thirty-six-year-old Michael Jeter of West Frankfort pleaded guilty Monday in St. Clair County to four counts of aggravated driving under the influence.

Jeter was on the sleep aid Ambien and an antihistamine on May 22, 2012 when he hit and killed 38-year-old contract worker Dennis Beard and injured three others as they stood on a roadway striping vehicle on eastbound I-64 near the St. Clair Square Mall.

Jeter is scheduled for sentencing before St. Clair County Chief Judge John Baricevic on June 4.
