(KMOV) – A parade will be held tonight in downtown St. Louis to celebrate Fat Tuesday, the culmination of Mardi Gras festivities.

The parade, which will begin on Washington Ave. at 7 p.m., will feature dozens of floats and thousands of beads as people from all over the St. Louis area converge to celebrate.

Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, is the last day before Lent begins Ash Wednesday.
