(KMOV) – Fireworks sparked after the St. Louis County Executive erupts at a councilman at a meeting on Tuesday night.

It happened as the council moved to block one of St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley’s appointments to the county police board.

"When you make statements like he made, I’m going to call you out every single time,” said Dooley.

Dooley lashed out at Councilman Greg Quinn, who said he didn’t like the nomination of former Metro CEO Robert Baer because of his close ties to Dooley.

“That’s insulating to me.  That’s not what I said.  That’s what you implied, Mr. Quinn you've been on this council for 20 years you have the least knowledge of how this board functions,” said Dooley.

Dooley is trying to rebuild the board after scandal and a federal investigation and the political jockeying seems to be getting under Dooley’s skin.

"No you can't tell me anything councilman because you just told an untruth with the statement you said because a person is a friend of Charley Dooley’s he doesn't qualify. I think we have a particular.  You don't think at all councilman."

The council approved one appointee, SUIE professor T. R. Carr, but the political feuding was far from over.
