ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A dog that was shot 12 times and strangled with an electrical cord has made an amazing recovery and will be released from the veterinary hospital Friday.
On September 21, Stray Rescue of St. Louis rescued the dog from a dumpster on the 6000 block of Emma Avenue. Today the dog, now known as Optimus Prime or OP, is paralyzed and lost the use of his back legs. Optimus Prime will walk out the Veterinary Specialty Services in Manchester with the help of a donated, custom-built cart built by race car driver Aaron Wood.
The founder of Stray Rescue, Randy Grim, says Optimus Prime was very close to death when they found him.Grim will be picking up Optimus Prime and taking him home with him.
Stray rescue is also offering a $2,500 reward to anyone who has information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Optimus Prime's injuries.
