GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police have identified a worker killed at the Kraft Foods warehouse in Granite City, Illinois after being struck by a robotic forklift Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the accident happened around 5:15 a.m. in the 2900 block of Missouri Avenue. 

Officials said the victim, identified as 43-year-old James Gentilello, was found pinned between an unmanned “laser guided vehicle” used to haul produce and a metal racking unit that stores loaded pallets.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, Gentilello’s job required him to oversee the operation of the of the unmanned vehicles within the warehouse.

Investigators said an autopsy planned for Tuesday would help determine Gentilello’s exact cause of death.

Funeral arrangements were still being made.
