(KMOV) – Authorities are investigating after someone fired several shotgun shells into a De Soto, Mo. home early Monday morning.

According to deputies, a 54-year-old man and 43-year-old were sleeping at their home in the 13000 block of State Rd. JJ around 2 a.m. when they were awakened by the sound of gunshots.

Deputies arrived on scene and found five shotgun shells had been fired into the house. Four more shells were discovered in a pickup truck parked outside. Authorities say a small silver car was seen in the area around the time of the incident.

The woman sustained a minor injury to her face, but refused medical treatment.

Police told News 4 they do not think the shooting was random, but do not know who is responsible.
