(KMOV) – A man faces charges after police say he punched and choked his mother for no apparent reason in O’Fallon on Monday.

Brian Hogan, 32, was charged with felony domestic assault.

According to court documents, Hogan arrived to a home in the 200 block of Southernside Ln. and pulled his mother out of bed by her hair.

Police say he then punched her in the face several times.

Authorities say the victim tried to break free, but Hogan threw her against a wall and chocked her until she was about to black out.

Police say the victim’s shirt was pulled off and her bra ripped in half at one point. She then started running to another apartment in the area half naked, and Hogan gave chase.

Authorities say the victim eventually collapsed at the bottom of the stairs to her son’s apartment building. She was taken to the hospital with a head injury. Her condition was unknown.

Police were called to the scene and found drug paraphernalia on Hogan. He was arrested and taken into custody on a $100,000 bond.

Authorities say Hogan has a history of arrests, which include multiple assaults.
