JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo (KMOV.com) -- A former superintendent in Jefferson County is getting over $200,000 to leave his job and no one is saying why.

The DeSoto School Board approved the settlement with Andy Jay Arbeitman on November 1st. The agreement pays Arbeitman over $207,000 while also agreeing not to disclose any reasons for why he’s leaving.

“None of that information can be shared it's a personnel matter,” said interim superintendent Dr. Trish Burkeen.

Burkeen cited state law which protects the information of district employees.

Some parents have expressed frustration about not knowing, especially since it's costing the district.  Arbeitman had been superintendent since 2007 and was put on paid leave in May this year.
