EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOV.com) – An early-morning fire seriously damaged a home in East St. Louis Monday morning.
According to reports, the fire started around 5:30 a.m. inside the home on 42nd Street. When crews arrived, flames were shooting from the roof. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to any nearby homes.
The home appeared to be occupied, but it’s not known if anyone was inside when the fire started. The home suffered extensive damage to an upper floor and water damage to the main floor.
A neighboring home also suffered some siding damage.
No injuries were reported.
