(KMOV.com) -- A convicted sex offender allegedly went into a school office asking to see his 7-year-old victim when a police officer recognized the offender and arrested him.
Ronnell Edwards pleaded guilty to molesting a 7-year-old boy in 2011 and was just released months later to the St. Louis Community Release Center where he is only supposed to leave for work or school.
But Wednesday Edwards allegedly told administrators he was leaving to go register as a sex offender with law enforcement. Instead, police said Edwards went to Peabody school looking for his victim.
The police officer who happened to investigate the molestation charges back in 2011 just happened to be inside the Peabody school and he knew Edwards wasn’t supposed to contact any child, let alone his victim.
The officer then arrested Edwards on the spot.
Edwards faces new charges now and could go back to prison for up to 10 years.
