Taylor Farms Retail, Inc. is recalling packaged baby spinach that was sold in 39 states, including Illinois and Missouri over concerns the spinach could be contaminated with E. coli.
In a statement, the company said the recall was "out of an abundance of caution."
No illnesses have been reported.
The states included in the recall are: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IN, IL, KS, KY, LA, MD, MO, MN, MS, MT, NC, NE, NM, NV, NJ, NY, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WY.
Taylor Farms is responsible for at least 4 recalls on their products in the last 3 years. Last year, the food service company had a major recall in May 2012 for Salmonella contamination in their spinach products.
The FDA also reports Taylor Farms had 2 recalls in 2011; one for grape tomatoes in May 2011, and salad blends was also recalled in October.
