(KMOV)-- Street fights, gunshots, and lewd behavior - those are just some of the accusations a downtown club is facing.

Club Lure is a popular nightclub along Washington Avenue, on Wednesday, managers learned their liquor license will be challenged at an August 27th hearing at city hall.

One of the club managers said the club is being targeted because "we spoke out about true feelings in downtown, targetting us for thursday nights" according to manager Rob Olsen. Olsen said Thursday nights are Hip Hop nights with an urban feel. According to Mayor Slay's Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford, "this is not about who, it's about what, not about what kind of music people like it's about behavior."

Rainford says police will present evidence at the August hearing that shows violence is being caused by club patrons. He also says it's the city's job to make sure downtown is safe, and that's what they're doing by calling a hearing.

The hearing will take place at 2 p.m. in room 208 at city hall on August 27th.
