(KMOV) --A man believed to be the boyfriend of Shelby Dasher was charged on Thursday for his alleged involvement in the beating death of her one-year-old baby in 2011.

Edgar Rivas, 26, was charged with one count of tampering with evidence and abandonment of a corpse following the murder of Tyler Dasher on November 15, 2011.

According to charging documents, Rivas hid Dasher’s body in a wooded area near the intersection of River Des Peres and Olde English Road Tuesday morning.

He is also accused of concealing duct tape and plastic gloves which were allegedly used to move the body to impair the availability in a homicide investigation.

Shelby Dasher, 20, was charged with second-degree murder for the death of her one-year-old son. She confessed to the murder after filing a false missing person report where an AMBER Alert was issued.

Dasher has confessed to beating the child because when she could not get him to stay quiet in his crib. She then dumped his body and returned home to sleep, waiting several hours later to report him missing.

According to medical examiner, Dasher died of blunt force trauma.

According to St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch, Shelby Dasher was out for some period of time during the night and early morning hours before the baby was killed. During that time the grandmother was still asleep.  Rivas admitted to investigators to committing the offenses.

Shelby Dasher's bail is currently set at $500,000, cash-only.
