SULLIVAN, Mo. (KMOV) – Charges were filed Monday against an alleged wrong-way driver in an accident that injured a mother and her 3-year-old son in Sullivan, Missouri Sunday.

Police said a Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Shane Lowder, was traveling eastbound on S. Service Road when the truck crossed the center lane and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu.  The Malibu, driven by 22-year-old Jenna Dean, spun and was stopped facing east on the north side of the road.

Dean was entrapped in her car for about 30 minutes before being extracted by the Sullivan Fire Department.  Dean was flown to St John’s Hospital in Creve Coeur for treatment.  Her 3-year-old son was rushed to Missouri Baptist Hospital.  Their conditions were not released.

Lowder refused medical treatment at the scene and was arrested by the Sullivan Police Department for allegedly driving while intoxicated and he was later charged with vehicular assault.  Police said other charges are pending.
