CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) -- The challenger in the Democratic primary for St. Louis County executive is raising far more money than the incumbent, at least so far.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports documents filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission show that County Councilman Steve Stenger has raised about $638,158.

Incumbent Executive Charlie Dooley has about $458,000 in his campaign treasury as of Jan. 15. Stenger raised $227,083 over the most recent three months, while Dooley raised $109,060.

The filings also show that Stenger raised a lot of money from labor organizations. Dooley had substantial donations from law firms, business owners and members of his administration.

The primary election is in August.
