What a neat deal. The makers of one of the most popular toys out there is sharing in their success by donating their product... Zhu Zhu pets. Three area hospitals and about 7 others around the country are receiving some 15-hundred Zhu Zhu pets along with accessories and play sets. It's a more than $150,000 donation.
The folks at Cepia say their furry, little creation is so popular they now have six plants making them to try to keep up with demand.
I met a mom at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Frontenac this morning who said she tried but couldn't get a Zhu Zhu pet for her kids at Christmas. Her kids have some now.
Cepia calls giving away their 2010 Toy of the Year one of its "Random Acts of Zhu." A couple of employees showed up dressed as elves as they assembled the play sets to bring a little Christmas in July to kids at the hospitals.
