(KMOV) -- If you live in Illinois, you'll soon be able to weigh in on whether the state should ban all cell phone use to cut down on distracted driving.
Illinois' new Advisory Committee on Traffic Safety will take up the matter this year to determine whether the state should impose a ban.
The advisory committee is an 11 member group of state lawmakers, safety advocates and the secretary of state.
"I think [Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White] is waiting to hear testimony and thoughts from the experts," White's Spokesman Dave Druker said. "He's going to start a Safe Driver series of hearings throughout the state of Illinois beginning January 19."
We'll let you know when those hearings happen in our area.
Illinois enacted a ban on texting while driving last year.
