Christmas came early for some students in the Metro East. The Casnio Queen hosted its annual Toyland, which benefits children in East St Louis.
Students were able to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, and each child was given a gift bag that included winter gloves, a hat, socks, crayons and a Wiffle Ball set.
East St Louis school leaders say the event fills a great need.
“Many of the kids would not recieve anything if it wasn’t for a program such as this,” said Arthur Culver, East. St. Louis Superintendent. “So we just want to thank the Casino Queen for reaching out, to see a need and stepping up to fill that need.”
2012 marks the 14th year for the event; which served about 3,000 students from Pre-K through second grade.
