(KMOV)-- Congressman Russ Carnahan is speaking out about the firebombing of his office. The congressman was responding not to police reports, but to a St. Louis area blogger who claims one of Carnahan's campaign staffer's played a role in the firebombing.

Last week someone threw an explosive device through the window at Russ Carnahan's campaign office on Chippewa. A man was questioned, but not charged.

St. Louis police and federal authorities are investigating, but there's no word on whether or not they're close to an arrest. No one was injured, but there was some damage done to the interior of one office.

Last week, local blogger Jim Hoft, The Gateway Pundit, claimed on his website that the man questioned in the case was a disgruntled former campaign worker for Russ Carnahan. Hoft said there were insinuations that conservative activists might have been involved and he blasted the congressman for not admitting it might be one of his own workers.

On Wednesday Carnahan did speak up, but didn't identify the former staffer. The congressman was careful not to suggest that his former staffer is the one who was questioned.

Carnahan did say he wants whoever is responsible to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Wednesday afternoon, Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder has used his personal twitter account to forward links to political blogs about this story. We want to know what you think about this. Is it appropriate? post your comment below.
