(KMOV) – A 29-year-old man from Canada was struck and killed Sunday night along Interstate 70 in Warren County.
The Warren County Coroner, Roger Mauzy said the victim, Faraz Khodabandeh was walking in the eastbound lane of I-70 when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle around 10 p.m.
Officials say Khodabandeh of Vancouver, British Columbia, was reportedly walking with a German Sheppard at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Highway Patrol found Khodabandeh’s vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby rest area. Mauzy said he didn’t know where Khodabandeh was coming from or going to but did say they found his passport and he’d “been all over the world.”
The female driver, a Missouri resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
This accident took place near the spot where a pedestrian was killed two months ago. Mauzy says he believes it is only coincidence that they’ve had two people hit and killed in this area in last few weeks.
A toxicology report will be done on the victim.
