(KMOV)-- Busch Stadium is introducing several new menu items for the 2011 season. On game days, the Cardinals will sell a lot of classic and new baseball fare, but inevitably, there will be some left over.

Not all the leftovers go to waste, though.

Jeramie Mitchell, the stadium’s Food and Beverage Director, says the Cardinals work with Operation Food Search. They pack any quality food in coolers, and the organization picks it up the next day.

Operation Food Search is a St. Louis organization that distributes food to homeless shelters and others in need. Last season, the Cardinals donated $100,000 worth of food.

This year, the Cardinals are also stepping up with recycling. They are implementing a composting plan for the whole season. Officials expect to recycle seven tons per month.
