JERSEY COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Authorities say a 15-year old is dead after his vehicle left the roadway while he was driving with an instructional permit Sunday morning.

The teen's Ford F-150 drove off the road while traveling east on Illinois Route 16 approaching St. Mary’s Road in rural Jersey County, Illinois.

The truck reportedly drove off the road, struck a large drainage pipe and rolled over multiple times. The truck then struck a utility pole with the driver’s side area, and came to a stop on its roof.

The accident happened at approximately 10:30 in the morning, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Quinton P. Vantonder, 52, was also inside the vehicle, but was not injured in the accident. Police say the driver and passenger were both wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
