(KMOV) – The Missouri Department of Transportation has canceled the weekend closure of the Boone Bridge.
MoDOT had planned to close the westbound lanes of the bridge September 10-13. The closure was canceled due to the recent rain. The westbound lanes will be closed September 17-20 for the crucial repairs.
The Boone Bridge carries traffic from St. Louis County to St. Charles County, and the westbound lanes are vital for people traveling from St. Louis to the University of Missouri for football games during the next month.
MoDot and the Missouri athletic department are working together to make sure fans are aware they’ll have to use detours around the bridge for Mizzou’s home games.
The bridge was built in the 1930’s and these repairs are considered crucial.
