LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Tuesday morning, MoDOT officials urged commuters to find an alternate route after a big rig’s trailer overturned on Interstate 64 in Lake St. Louis.

According to reports, around 5:45 a.m., a FedEx truck pulling a tandem trailer left the roadway near the Hawk Ridge Trail and Highway N exit causing the rear trailer to overturn. When the trailer overturned packages and envelopes spilled onto the roadway.

Police and emergency crews responded to the scene to clear the accident. The driver was not seriously injured.

At one point, all eastbound lanes are closed and police were diverting traffic onto the shoulder. All lanes have since reopened and traffic is moving normally.
