ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Tens of thousands of people lined the streets of St. Louis for the annual Mardi Gras Parade and businesses prepared for after parties.
The parade was one of the longest in St. Louis Mardi Gras history with more than 100 units registered to navigate the parade route. People endured the cold weather and two and a half hour long parade for the sights, sounds and the beads.
The party continues in Soulard, but it has moved indoors. Police say they started clearing the streets around 8 p.m. Saturday. Soon after, businesses were ready to welcome the large crowds.
Mardi Gras officials say the crowd this year seemed smaller than last year, though as of late Saturday night, police reported 92 arrests, including 48 arrests for minors possessing alcohol and five for disturbing the peace.
The bars and hot spots were scheduled to close at 11 p.m. this year. Police hope partiers show some responsibility and get home safely.
