(KMOV) – Homeowners with security systems should take note after a suspicious man was caught trying to talk his way into homes, posing as a worker for a security company.

The man had no identification when he tried to enter the homes, and had no credible story when he rang homeowners’ doorbells.

He targeted a street in the north end of Belleville, Illinois on Thursday, going door-to-door. Residents say he was claiming to work for Pinnacle GE security, and needed to get inside to update the homeowners’ security systems.

Police are still looking for the suspect. One homeowner who called his security company says they told him this is a typical scam where impersonators will cut the wires to the security systems and them come back to burglarize the place when no one is home.
