(KMOV) – A couple of businesses in Belleville could get big tax breaks from the city in exchange for creating jobs.

The proposal would give Olympic Restaurant a sales tax break on materials used to remodel and reimburse the business as much as $10,000 to update the building’s façade.

In exchange, the owner would need to invest a certain amount of money and add two new jobs. A new microbrewery on West Main would get a similar deal and would need to add 50 jobs.

" I just think it's great to improve anything we can business wise, help business as much as possible especially now the way the economy's been,” said Tim Compton of Belleville.

Councilman Ken Kinsella said the city would get its investments back in taxes. The Belleville City Council will vote on these tax breaks and reimbursement on Tuesday night.
