(KMOV.com) – You may have charities trying to collect from you in honor of American Heart Month, but the Better Business Bureau is issuing a warning about one of those charities.
Heart Support of America is sending out letters offering free heart attack first aid kits in exchange of a donation of $10 to $25.
BBB spokesperson Chris Thetford said, “We found that over 90 percent of what is collected by the professional fundraisers actually stays with the professional fundraisers so that means that they call you on the phone or they send you a letter asking you for money, 90 cents of every dollar that you give them is actually going to the professional fundraiser and only 10 cents is going to charity.”
News 4 called the charity which is based in Tennessee and were told no one was around to answer our questions. The charity has not returned any messages.
