(KMOV) – The Better Business Bureau is reminding Cardinals fans to be careful when purchasing World Series tickets on the secondary market.

The team will play the Red Sox in Boston for Game 1 and Game 2 of the World Series, but will return home for Game 3 on Saturday night.

The BBB offers several recommendations for would-be ticket buyers.

First off, they say to buy from an authorized seller like the Cardinals. Since those may be hard to come by, consider using a dealer like StubHub.

Those considering buying from a scalper on the street should be extremely careful. Scammers can produce fake tickets that look very real.

If buying online from auction sites or classified ads like Craigslist, buyers should make sure the seller has a long history of satisfied customers, including recent transactions.

The BBB also says to very wary of sellers trying to lure buyers from a legitimate site to another site for a “private transaction.”

Finally, those who do find a legitimate online seller should never pay by wiring them the money. The money will be gone if the tickets are fake or do not arrive.
