(KMOV) -- The new automotive plant in Hazelwood, Emerald Automotive, has gone live with a new website giving the public a chance to check out its electric-hybrid commercial vehicles. The site also posts local career opportunities within the plant.
Andy Tempest, CEO of Emerald Automotive, says he sees this news as a significant step forward in making his truck plant a reality. The company plans to work out of an historic Hazelwood home, hiring as many as 30 people in the next 12 months.
Some of the jobs were posted Monday.
Emerald Automotive hopes to produce hybrid vans here. Those vans are a long way from production, but jobs are already posted. Positions range in title from sales to procurement to information technology.
The company is in negotiations on two potential plant sites – the first one at the old Ford plant along Lindbergh Blvd.
The second is nearby at the Hazelwood Logistics Plant – both are close to the airport and have rail access to ship out vehicles.
Emerald is still seeking private investors, but the mayor is confident they’ll be building vans within two years.
