SOUTH ROXANA, Ill. – Authorities have identified a man killed in a house fire in South Roxana as 78-year-old Amil Goskie.
Illinois state fire investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire that killed Goskie, who was found in a back room of the home in the 200 block of Stephenson around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire Chief Ed Allsman says the room where Goskie’s body was found is near a wood-burning stove that Allsman suspects might have caused the fire.
Funeral arrangements for Goskie are pending.
South Roxana is a 2,000-resident village just northeast of St. Louis.
