(KMOV) – Chesterfield will soon be home to an athlete-oriented hotel and fieldhouse.
GoodSports Enterprises Global on Tuesday announced it is building a 130-room hotel and 85,000-square-foot state-of-the-art fieldhouse.
The facilities will sit on 10 acres of Dean Wolfe's Chesterfield Blue Valley, a 132-acre development near Olive and Interstate 64-Highway 40 located close to the St. Louis Premium Outlets.
“We are excited about the opportunity Chesterfield presents for our village,” GoodSports Enterprises Global CEO Jerald Good said in a statement. “Not only does the area stand on its own but it complements our other villages currently in development.”
GoodSports says the village is designed specifically for athletes. The fieldhouse will focus mainly on basketball, volleyball, fitness and sports medicine. The adjacent hotel will cater to travelers during the week and event participants on the weekend.
The company plans to building 25 similar villages over the next four years, with Chesterfield being its third. The company has already built sites in Ohio and Indiana.
Groundbreaking is expected to take place this fall with doors opening in early 2015.
