WATERLOO, Ill. (AP) -- A man accused of strangling his wife and their two sons in their southwestern Illinois home is set to go on trial in April.

A Monroe County judge on Monday scheduled jury selection to begin on April 11 in Christopher Coleman's first-degree murder trial.

Coleman has pleaded not guilty.

But authorities contend he was trying to escape his marriage to be with a Florida girlfriend when he killed his wife, Sheri Coleman, and their sons, ages 11 and 9, in 2009 in their Columbia home. Authorities allege Coleman staged the crime scene to appear as if the killings were the work of a deranged enemy of the ministry that employed him.

Investigators accuse Coleman of writing and sending himself threatening letters and e-mails to support his story.
