Earlier in 2012, News 4 reported about a woman accused of ripping off an elderly blind woman.
News 4’s Chris Nagus looked further into it and found out the contractor is accused of stealing from another elderly blind woman.
Doris Allen says she’s fuming mad.
She can’t see, but a few weeks ago she heard Nagus’ report on Mildred Brewer, the 92-year-old blind woman who paid Kiela Robertson of K and D Home Specialists thousands of dollars for a new roof. The thing is, she never got one.
It’s been over a year since Doris paid Kiela $3,600 to put a roof on her north St. Louis County home.
Doris says Kiela took the money and split.
“She’s a rip-off artist, and she preys on older people and disabled people,” said Doris.
News 4’s Chris Nagus tried contacting Kiela, but she never called back.
In Mildred Brewer’s case, Kiela told News 4 that business got bad when some of her customers didn’t pay up.
That is close to the same thing she told Doris Allen.
“She told me she had some people who had not paid her for some jobs. I told her that was not my problem, I paid her,” said Doris.
Doris says her insurance company is threatening to cancel her policy because the insurance check was cashed, but the roof was never replaced.
She says she’s beyond ticked.
“She’s a scam artist. I want her arrested and prosecuted,” she said.
If Kiela comes through, News 4 will let you know.
In the meantime, let Chris Nagus know if you have been the victim of a rip-off.
