ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Ann Wagner walked into the ballroom at the Hilton Frontenac Tuesday evening feeling confident she’d win in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District.
Wagner, a Republican, is running for the seat being vacated by Todd Akin, who is running to replace Democrat Clair McCaskill in the U.S. Senate.
Wagner has clear advantages over her opponent, Glenn Koenen, with name recognition and campaign funds.
It is Wagner’s first attempt at public office. The Ballwin native is a former chair of the Missouri Republican Party and co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
The 2nd Congressional District encompasses most of St. Louis County and stretches north to Cottleville and south into Arnold.
