ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Employees of AmerenUE are raising money to help the family of a St. Louis County man killed last month in a power plant explosion in Connecticut.
Workers at AmerenUE's Rush Island, Sioux, Labadie and Meramec plants have held fundraisers and collected donations for the family of Chris Walters. They've raised about $2,100 so far.
The 48-year-old Florissant man was among five people killed Feb. 7 when an explosion blew apart the nearly completed Kleen Energy plant in Middletown, Conn.
Walters had a temporary job as the safety supervisor for an electrical contractor on the project. He is survived by a wife and three children.
