(KMOV) -- AmerenUE is asking the state of Missouri for another double digit rate increase.
Ameren filed a request with the Public Service Commission of Missouri for a $263 million annual increase in electric rates, according to a release from the Consumer Council of Missouri. The request comes just months after Ameren was authorized to increase rates by 10.1 percent rate of return on equity for Ameren shareholders.
The new request, if approved, would increase the rate of return on equity to 10.9 percent. The margin would be “a much bigger margin of profit then most investors have seen or expect to see in today’s market,” according to the release.
Ameren is also looking to recover $15 million in Taum Sauk investments. The plant in Taum Sauk had its reservoir burst, flooding the Johnson’s Shut-Ins. Ameren had said it would not charge consumers because of the incident. Ameren is now saying consumers should pay for improvements and upgrades.
