(KMOV) – Ameren Missouri opened its emergency operations center to provide support to communities impacted by Monday night’s severe weather in the area.

The company said about 9,800 Ameren Missouri customers were without power as of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Company officials said it was assessing the damage and brought in extra crews to help restore power to homes without electricity.

“We expect all customers to be restored by the end of the day,” the company said in a statement.

Ameren Missouri officials say residents should stay clear of downed power lines. They should call 1-800-552-7583 or 911 if downed lines are spotted.

“Assume all downed power lines are energized. Stay inside because you may walk into an energized power line. Stay clear of brush, shrubs and downed trees that may hide downed lines,” said Ameren.

Additional storm safety information is available at the Ameren Missouri Outage Center at AmerenMissouri.com.
