Alton, Illinois
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- An Alton woman faces up a half century in prison now that she's admitted in court that she killed her 22-month-old stepson in a fit of rage.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jami Anderson pleaded guilty Wednesday in Madison County to first-degree murder.
Authorities say she slammed the child's head into a door frame on March 8. Anderson first told investigators the toddler was injured in a fall, but she later confessed that she lost her temper.
The child died of head trauma at a St. Louis hospital.
Anderson remains jailed. Her sentencing date wasn't immediately set.
