ALTON, Ill. — Authorities say a southern Illinois man and St. Charles County man died of heart attacks they suffered while removing snow from their yards.
Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn said 66-year-old Carl W. Walker of Alton died at 9:51 a.m. Thursday at a local hospital.
Nonn said Walker complained to his wife after using the snow blower, saying he was having trouble breathing. Walker went to the hospital but died after suffering what doctors said was a heart attack.
St. Charles County officials say a 79-year-old Harvester man died of an apparent heart attack while shoveling snow.
His wife found him on the ground and called 9-1-1 around 1:30 p.m. He was transported to Barnes St. Peters Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
