ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A north St. Louis neighborhood lost a long-time fixture Saturday afternoon as police continue an active homicide investigation.
Alderman Sam Moore said Aaron Karl Marshall was beaten to death inside his home in the 3900 block of Ashland Avenue.
Moore and Marshall’s siblings said the 60-year-old was best known for bringing his neighbors together with his cooking. On Saturday night, it was his unexpected death that brought dozens together.
“[His death] was a shock because he do stuff for everybody,” Marshall’s brother Glenn Jefferies said. “Everybody liked him so we don’t know why it happened.”
Police are not commenting why it happened either. Moore said the block captain was “beat to death.”
