GODFREY - An Alton High School student is in custody and may face up to a year in prison and expulsion for allegedly writing a bomb threat on a wall at the school.

"We want the students and the parents to know we take these cases seriously," said Lt. Mike Dixon of the Madison County Sheriff's Department. "We just want them to know we are not trying to come down too hard on them; we want them to know the consequences of their acts."

An automated telephone call sent out to parents of AHS students on Tuesday afternoon announced the arrest in the case.
