ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) – Four suspects were taken into custody after they allegedly robbed a gas station at gunpoint overnight in north St. Louis early Thursday morning.

Police say five male suspects walked into the ZX Gas Station at 1310 N. Grand around1:30 a.m. The suspects were spotted by the clerk on-duty stuffing their pockets with stolen merchandise.

The clerk locked the store door and attempted to detain the suspects inside the store. When the suspects noticed, they told the clerk they were armed and one suspect gestured to a weapon.

The suspects then fled the scene after the clerk unlocked the store. They were seen leaving in a Green Infiniti.

Officers were responding to the scene when they spotted the getaway car traveling across the Grand Overpass. They pulled the car over to investigate.

Five suspects were detained during the traffic stop and four were identified by the gas station clerk as being involved in the robbery.

The other person in the vehicle was not taken into custody.

The four suspects are between the ages of 18 and 21, according to police.

No weapons were recovered at either scene.

Additional details in the investigation were not immediately available.
