(KMOV) – Police are investigating after a 3-year-old boy was found alone wandering a Belleville street Thursday morning.
According to police, someone was driving on Carlyle Ave. around 7 a.m. when they saw the boy on the side of the road.
The driver stopped at the scene and waited for police to arrive.
The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was OK.
Officials said the child wandered about three blocks from his home in the 2900 block of West Boulevard. It was unclear how long he had been gone when he was found.
The division of child and family services was notified and have taken custody of the child.
It was not known who was caring for the boy.
